We have seen a major shift in the social network world to Instagram. This has been a long time coming but it seems people are really resonating with the platform’s user experience.
If you are looking to grow your business with social media and specifically with Instagram, then this article is a must-read. Here are a few ideas to make sure your content is driving predictable traffic using Instagram.
1. Brand presence
You would be surprised at how many Instagram bios are left empty. The first thing a brand should be doing on Instagram is making sure your bio is filled out and clearly states what you do and what you are about. This may seem like a no brainer, but you would be surprised at how many companies are skipping over this step. You can’t really go wrong with this, make sure you are precise and to the point.
- Who are you?
- What does your company do?
- What is your inspiration or what drives you to do what you do?
- Call to action with a link to your website
Making sure you have a clear call to action is essential to this. You want to tell people what you would like them to do next. If it is as simple as visiting our store, you need something to drive someone to the next step in your funnel and start considering your company.
2. High Quality Highly Relevant Content
Content is king these days, especially on Instagram. By now you should know who your audience is, what their pain points are and how you can serve them. Now it’s time to give them what they want, content that will resonate with them. We have moved into an age where consumers can get whatever they want whenever they want. With a click of a button, their next purchase shows up at their front door. So if convenience is not the issue anymore what is? Identity! People want to identify with the brands that they buy from. How do we connect our brand with our audience? Through the content that we produce.
Making sure you are not just posting random pictures on your Instagram is extremely important. Plan things out. We look at every month in advance for our clients. We start with a theme for the month and then a category for each week. From there you can plan out your images, blog posts, video content and Instagram lives. With this planned out process, you should be able to create a hard-hitting content strategy that starts to resonate with your audience. If you don’t get traction at first, don’t stress it. Consistency is key with this, continue to do it and people will lay a beaten path to your door.
3. People Love To See Behind The Scenes
The competition is thick out there. It seems every day a new store is popping up out of nowhere. The question is do you REALLY know who is behind that store and what kind of trust factor do they have. An easy way to drive a huge amount of engagement and instill a sense of trust is to show people everything that goes on behind closed doors. This could be as simple as images of the owner performing a task like packaging up an order or out to lunch with your team. Video is good for this as well to show the manufacturing process or letting people know what is happening after they place an order with you.
The more transparent you are with your audience the more relatability and trust you will gain with your audience which is only going to help your brand and marketing strategy.
4. Telling Your Brand Story
Your audience is eager to find out more about you and your brand. So give it to them. Our stories are what connect us to people and capitalizing on your story is key. A good way to tell your story is through video. Now, these obviously need to be kept within the post time constraints of 1 – 2 minutes on Instagram. A good way to do this is to break your story up into small stories or easy to consume bits for people. Get out there and start connecting with your audience by telling your story.
5. Delivering Value
No one wants to be sold to all the time. At least they don’t want to feel that way. Having posts that are constantly about “buy my stuff” is a sure way to turn off your audience and to lose priority in the news feed. In addition to your engagement posts, you need to be giving value. These can be industry tips, cheat sheets, blog posts ect… Some people come to us and say “People need to pay for that stuff”. Wrong! The more value you give away for free, the more value people will perceive your paid products as.
A lot of thought needs to go into your Instagram profile. You don’t have long to grab someone’s attention. The biggest advice I can give is consistency. Make sure you are consistently posting relevant and engaging content that is going to resonate with your audience. The more you do this, the more people will find and connect with you. On top of that Instagram will favor you for providing this value. Make plans in advance, get creative and have fun with this.
